Doha, Qatar - EMMA Systems, a pioneering aviation technology startup based in Qatar, is advancing digital transformation in the aviation sector worldwide, with significant support from Qatar Foundation’s Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP). Launched initially at Hamad International Airport (HIA) in 2017, EMMA Systems has grown into a leading provider of real-time data visualization and operational monitoring solutions for airports, positioning itself as an essential tool for improving operational efficiency and decision-making in airport management.

The startup’s flagship platform offers advanced capabilities for airport operators, enabling seamless information-sharing, data coordination, and enhanced operational oversight. Originally a localized solution at HIA, EMMA Systems has since expanded across Europe, the Middle East, and recently into Africa. Among its key innovations are the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) platform, the EMMA Unified Data Platform, and the EMMA Messaging Tool, each designed to streamline airport operations and support informed decision-making for airport administrators.

EMMA Systems has gained international traction, securing notable contracts with airport groups worldwide. Recently, it was awarded a contract by Ethiopian Airlines to implement the A-CDM and Pre-Departure Sequencer (PDS) systems at Addis Ababa's Bole International Airport, marking one of the first implementations of these systems in Africa. This milestone supports EMMA’s commitment to optimizing airport operational processes globally.

In Qatar, EMMA Systems recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MATAR, Qatar’s airport operations management company, designating it as the Digital Transformation Partner for HIA. Under this strategic partnership, EMMA Systems will provide a roadmap for digital technology adoption at MATAR, further embedding its solutions in Qatar’s aviation infrastructure. EMMA Systems’ growth is also bolstered by strategic investments from Qatar-based Al Khor Holding, enabling the startup to expand its project teams, establish new offices, and strengthen commercial operations.

In addition, the company’s influence has extended into the Gulf region, where it collaborates with Oman Airports to implement its A-CDM platform at multiple airports, including Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport. This collaboration aims to promote operational collaboration and advance sustainability practices across Oman's civil airports.

EMMA Systems’ rapid growth reflects a broader success story of innovation nurtured by QSTP. Following initial research and development grants in 2021 and 2022, QSTP’s network facilitated further growth opportunities for EMMA Systems through its partnership with Silicon Valley-based Plug and Play. These resources have allowed the startup to expand its technological reach and strengthen its position as a key player in aviation technology.

As EMMA Systems transitions from the QSTP innovation ecosystem, it continues to make strides in advancing efficiency and operational coherence for airports globally, driven by a commitment to harnessing technology for transformative solutions in aviation.
