Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), in collaboration with the Qatar Career Development Centre (QCDC), has initiated steps to establish a comprehensive national career development ecosystem. The move aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and aims to integrate career guidance and development into the country’s sustainable development goals (SDGs).
A deliberation session titled “Towards Establishing the National Career Development Ecosystem in Qatar: Contributing to the Realisation of Qatar National Vision 2030” was held at the MoEHE headquarters in Doha. The event brought together policymakers, decision-makers, and strategists from education, training, and labour market sectors to discuss frameworks and strategies for aligning education with market demands.
The discussions focused on bridging the gap between the education system and labour market needs by tailoring educational programs to future job requirements, enhancing employability, and promoting sustainable development.
The envisioned career development ecosystem is designed to empower the younger generation and invest in national talents to meet local and international job market requirements. It also seeks to elevate the alignment of educational programs with labour market demands, ensuring that graduates are prepared for dynamic career paths.
The initiative highlights the importance of career guidance and counselling as a core part of the education system, enhancing students’ readiness for professional challenges.
International organisations and experts played a key role in shaping the discussion. EduCluster Finland shared insights into modern career guidance models and best practices. Representatives from global entities such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and UNESCO in Qatar provided perspectives on global standards and innovative approaches to career development.
The initiative aims to improve coordination between the education sector and labour markets to boost employability and productivity. By identifying future job needs and updating career guidance programs accordingly, Qatar seeks to build a workforce that aligns with the country’s development goals while supporting economic sustainability.
