Doha - Qatar has been selected as the host for the prestigious WSJ Tech Live conference for five consecutive years, starting in 2025. The announcement, made by the Director of the Government Communications Office, Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor al-Thani, alongside Almar Latour, publisher of The Wall Street Journal and CEO of Dow Jones, marks the first time the highly exclusive event will be held in the Middle East.

The WSJ Tech Live conference is an invitation-only gathering that attracts over 200 top-tier executives, investors, emerging startups, and influential venture capitalists from around the globe. Bringing the event to Qatar aligns with the nation's broader ambition to establish itself as a global hub for advanced technology and innovation. This vision is encapsulated in Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030, which aim to promote a knowledge-based economy driven by technological advancement.

The decision to host WSJ Tech Live in Qatar is expected to significantly increment the country's technology ecosystem. The conference will provide a platform for local talent to interact with global tech leaders, while also offering opportunities to attract international investment and forge strategic partnerships. This move is seen as a critical step in positioning Qatar as a key player in the global technology landscape, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence and the energy sector, where the MENA region is witnessing rapid growth.

Currently in its 11th year, WSJ Tech Live is known for bringing together leading figures in technology, covering fields such as entertainment, robotics, AI, and scientific innovation. This year's edition in California achieved record-breaking sponsorship revenue and offered groundbreaking insights into the future of technologies like generative AI and brain-computer interfaces.

Qatar's hosting of the WSJ Tech Live adds to an impressive roster of global events held in the country, including the FIFA World Cup, Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, Web Summit Qatar, and the Doha Forum. These events underscore Qatar’s strategic aim to become a regional leader in technological discourse and innovation. By attracting such high-profile gatherings, Qatar is accelerating its efforts to build a thriving digital economy and establish itself as a key contributor to global technological advancements.

The partnership between Dow Jones and Qatar reflects the growing importance of the MENA region in the tech sector, and the upcoming WSJ Tech Live events are expected to further solidify Qatar’s role in shaping the future of global technology.
