Cytomate launches Battle Twin to Simulate Industrial Cyberattacks
- by Falak .
Doha, Qatar - Cytomate, a Doha-based cybersecurity company, has announced the launch of Battle Twin, a patented breach and attack simulation platform built for operational technology (OT) environments. Alongside the launch, the company is hosting a webinar to demonstrate how Battle Twin can emulate OT attack behavior in a controlled setting and help organizations validate whether their OT security controls perform as expected without testing directly on production systems.
Battle Twin is described by Cytomate as a specialized virtual environment designed to simulate OT cyberattacks using breach and attack simulation techniques tailored for OT networks, including industrial control system and SCADA protocols. The intent is to give security and operations teams a safe way to observe attack paths and measure defensive readiness in repeatable scenarios
Cytomate noted that OT systems are responsible for monitoring and controlling physical processes, and emphasized that the safety, reliability, and uptime demands of these environments can make intrusive testing methods commonly used in IT risky or impractical; strengthening the case for simulation-based validation.
During the launch webinar, Cytomate explained that breach and attack simulation (BAS) runs controlled, repeatable attack techniques to validate how defenses behave in practice. The company said BAS is especially relevant in OT environments because it helps move from “controls exist” to measurable outcomes; whether segmentation holds, whether monitoring provides sufficient visibility, whether detections trigger, and which gaps should be prioritized first. Cytomate positioned Battle Twin around this validation need, describing it as a way to test controls, uncover weaknesses, and emulate advanced attack behavior without touching production systems.
A patent listing associated with the “Battle Twin” concept describes it as a specialized playground for breach and attack simulations designed specifically for OT networks. It emphasizes mimicking the security posture of an OT environment rather than fully replicating production behaviour, an approach aligned with the goal of security validation without operational disruption.
Cytomate is a Doha-based cybersecurity startup founded in 2021 and operating from Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP). QSTP lists Cytomate as an offensive cybersecurity company that develops proprietary solutions for threat intelligence and security posture analysis, alongside services such as penetration testing, red teaming, incident response, reverse engineering, and compromise assessment. Cytomate also features Battle Twin on its website as part of its OT-focused simulation and testing portfolio.
